Inquest docket opened after human foot washes ashore at Port Alfred

Port Alfred - An inquest docket has been opened for investigation in Port Alfred after a human left foot clad in a black 'Nike' takkie washed ashore and was discovered by a local resident on Tuesday afternoon.

"The lower limb from the knee until the takkie did not have any flesh on it," described police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

"The limb has been taken by the Forensic Pathology Services where analysis will be conducted."

She said currently, there are no outstanding missing persons reported in the area and at neighbouring police stations.

"However, earlier this month a suspect, who attacked local police K9 dog, Ounooi,and fled towards the sea where he went missing," Capt Govender said.

"A search was conducted with negative results."

Meanwhile, Ounooi is making great progress and will soon join her handler on the beat!

"This human limb was found close to area where the suspect went missing into the ocean," she said.

"This will be probed further to establish whether this limb belonged to the suspect."
