Inspirational businesswoman Busi Sizani to inspire local businesswomen

“From working at one of the most innovative technology companies in the world to producing my first feature film, Ayanda, I’ve truly realised there are no boundaries for women. You can go anywhere and do anything as long as you put your mind to it.” These are the inspiring words of Busi Sizani, Marketing Manager of Uber Technologies Inc., visiting Port Elizabeth on Thursday, 10 March.

“Being in the tech industry is fascinating. You have to constantly be on the go and keep up with trends. It's dynamic and fast-paced and often presents changes that leave you breathless. Being a woman in the tech industry has allowed me to experience it right in the moment,” she said.

Busi will address the members of the PE branch of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWA) at its Annual General Meeting in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’s Presidents Suite late afternoon on Thursday. Her key message is one of inspiration - women don’t need to feel inferior or let others’ perceptions impact them. “Always have confidence and know that you can succeed,” Sizani advises.

Busi is one of the talented marketing managers at Uber, based in Cape Town. She joined the company mid last year. Her focus is corporate partnerships for Uber in sub-Saharan Africa.

Before joining Uber, she was an executive producer for Octagon SA and brand manager for Endemol Africa, before starting her own consultancy and producing her first feature film, Ayanda, which recently aired in SA and the USA.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Communications from Helderberg College and has a strong passion for innovation, empowerment, art and food.

“We have invited Busi to address us as Uber now has a strong presence in our city. She is a woman in business who has risen through the ranks and who is successful in what she does - an inspiration to many other women!” said Michelle Brown, Chairperson of the local BWA.

The meeting will also provide members the opportunity to meet the BWA Executive Committee and Task Team members to gain insight into the value delivered to businesswomen across the country.
