East London -  All is well that ends well. A Mdantsane mother was thankful after being reunited with her son, who had gone missing over the weekend.

Mdantsane police and members of the community launched an intensive search after five-year-old Limanye Ngema was reported missing on Saturday evening.

"A search was conducted during the night, soon after he was reported to the police and the child is still missing," said police spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.

"He [was] understood to have been on his way home to eat, as he was playing with his friends, only few houses away."

Police urged all the members of the community to get involved in finding Ngema.

"We would like to further urge the parents or guardians to be more vigilant around their children where ever they play at all times," said Captain Mzuku.

On Sunday evening, police announced that Ngema had been found at a house near Mdantsane station safe and sound.

"The child was taken in by a concerned woman during the night and was seen playing in the streets with other children this afternoon," Captain Mzuku said.

"He was reunited with his mother with no injuries.

"The mother was very thankful towards SAPS efforts. The surrounding clusters are thanked for their efforts in assisting in this matter as well."
