Jub Jub and Tshabalala released on parole

South African rapper, Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye, and co-accused, Themba Tshabalala, have been granted parole by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards (CSPBs) at Leeuwkop and Baviaanspoort.

"To this date, each parolee has served four years, one month and one day behind bars,” spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, said in a statement.

The pair were  were found guilty of culpable homicide when they crashed their Mini Coopers, during a drag race, into a group of school boys in Protea North, Soweto in March 2010.

Four of the boys died there and two were left permanently brain damaged.

However, there had been outcries over Twitter when Oscar Pistorius was initially granted parole after just serving a small fraction of sentence with many asking why Jub Jub had not been accorded a parole as well.
