Kabega Park homeowner overpowers and apprehends home intruder

A suspected 26-year-old thief ran out of luck when he was overpowered and apprehended by the owner of a house in Kabega Road, Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth, on Friday.

"It is alleged that during the early hours of Friday morning, at about 02:15, the complainant (31) woke up when he heard noises in the house," said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu. 

"As he entered one of the bedrooms, he was confronted by an intruder, who rushed towards him."

She said that the owner managed to  grab him and prevent him from escaping.

 Kabega Park police called to scene

"A security company and police were alerted and the suspect was handed over to police."

The suspect had entered the bedroom by forcing the window open

"He is detained on a charge of attempted house robbery."
