Kabega police seek public assistance in unsolved hit and run case

Police in Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth, have appealed to the public for help in solving a hit and run accident that occurred in 2017 as well as in identifying relatives of an unknown man, whose body was found in Bridgemead.

"It is alleged that on Monday, 27 November 2017, at about 01:05, an accident occurred on the old Cape Road, across from Algoa Steel," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"A coloured male was hit by an unknown vehicle and the driver failed to stop after the accident."

She said that police are appealing to anyone, who may have information about the accident or may know the driver of the vehicle to contact the Kabega police.

"A case of culpable homicide is under investigation."

Body of unknown man found in Bridgemead

The detectives are also trying to trace the next of kin of an unknown person, whose body was found on 2019-01-03 at about 13:15 in Waterford Street in Bridgemead.

"The unknown male, suspected to be in his 30’s was only clad in blue jeans," said Col Naidu.

"He was not wearing a shirt or shoes.

"Circumstances surrounding his death is unknown and police is appealing to anyone, who may know of a person who may have disappeared or missing since January 2019 to contact them."

An inquest docket is currently under investigation.

"The investigating officer in both cases is D /Sgt Chantell Joubert at SAPS Kabega Park on 041 397 6856 or 082 739 5959."
