King Williams Town police net 100 suspects in weekend operations

Over the past weekend, King Williams Town police were busy with Operation Fiela II in the Cluster and arrested more than one hundred suspects for various crimes. 

"Police were also on foot patrol doing stop-and-search in the areas and they managed to arrest these suspects, aged between 19 and 54 years, for crimes ranging from drunkenness, Housebreaking and Theft, Drunken Driving, Possession of drugs, Rape, Dealing in liquor, Common Assault, Malicious damage to property and Possession of unlicensed firearm," said police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.

"Police confiscated the firearm, drugs and liquor

"These suspects will appear at different Magistrate's Court on Tuesday."

King William’s Town SAPS Acting Cluster Commander, Colonel Syed Cassim, said that police are committed in fighting crime and in full force in tracking down the perpetrators of crime.

"We will keep on doing stop and search and roadblocks to prevent crime in our area and ensure that our citizens are safe and secure," he added.

"He also thanked the community for sharing valuable information with SAPS and encouraged them to report any criminal activities to 08600 10111."
