King Williams Town safer festive season operations yield results

A multi-disciplinary operation conducted by police in King Williams Town, working together with other external stakeholders, yielded good results as police managed to arrest suspects for possession of drugs and two 7.65 illegal firearms and magazines with ammunition.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, a roadblock was also conducted on N2 next to Tamara SAPS and vehicles were searched.

"More than two hundred pamphlets were distributed as part of awareness during this festive season.

"While Police were busy with an operation at Stutterheim they arrested suspects with drugs and confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash," she said.

"Steve Vukile Tshwete police followed up on the information they received and recovered stolen stationery.

"King William’s Town Tracing Team recovered a hijacked vehicle at Leopold Street and was found within an hour."

She said that the Cluster Commander Brigadier Ngubelanga thanked the members who are committed in fighting crime in the area and ensuring that suspects are behind bars.
