Port Elizabeth police believe this man can help the fatal shooting of Smith Sunday in North End, Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth - Do you know the man in the CCTV photo? Port Elizabeth police believe he help them solve a fatal shooting that happened in North End, Port Elizabeth, at the beginning of March.

"Mount Road detectives is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the person in the picture. The picture was retrieved from CCTV footage obtained at the crime scene," described police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse van Rensburg.

"It is alleged that on 12 March, at about 11:45, a 44-year-old foreign national was allegedly shot several times while standing outside his building at the corners of Elizabeth and Govan Mbeki Avenues in North End."

Motive for Smith Sunday's fatal shooting remains unknown

She said that Smith Sunday was engaged in a conversation with another person when an unknown male approached him and fired several shots at him.

"The male then ran off and further down the road got into a white Nissan bakkie (no canopy) and drove off," Capt Janse van Rensburg.

"Smith Sunday was rushed to hospital by private transport and later succumbed to his injuries while in hospital.

"The motive for the shooting is not yet known and police are now investigating a case of murder."

She said that anyone who recognizes the person in the picture is asked to contact D/WO Deon Hanekom 078 364 8023.
