Kwazakele man arrested after robbing Sidwell garage a second time

A 44-year-old suspect from Kwazakele, Port Elizabeth, was arrested soon after an alleged robbery took place at a garage in Commercial Road in Sidwell on Friday afternoon.

"It is alleged that at about 13:45, the cashier recognised the suspect, who previously robbed the garage, inside the shop," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"As she wanted to go to the back of the shop, he stopped her and threatened her."

Col Naidu said that the man emptied the cash till and then left the shop.

Kwazakele man swiftly arrested for robbery

"The getaway vehicle, a maroon coloured car was spotted not long after the incident at the corners of Mendi and Limba Roads in New Brighton."

It was stopped by members of the Mount Road OCC.

"At the time, only the driver of the vehicle was in the car," Col Naidu said.

"He was arrested and detained on a charge of business robbery."

The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday.
