Latest Nelson Mandela Bay dam levels show a dramatic rise

The five major dams that supply the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality as well as the Kouga Local Municipality have made a dramatic recovery following the rains that fell across the catchment areas last week and over the weekend.

This is particularly good news considering that last week, the Kouga dam was 6.7% full, but has since gained about 30%.

The Churchill dam at 95.3% full has made the most significant recovery from just over 17% last week.

Garth Sampson, the South African Weather Service's Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape, said below are the dam level readings and percentages for the Algoa system for Tuesday morning:
