Four Irish Dancers from the McWilliams Academy of Dance studio in PE, were selected to perform at the South African Tattoo 2018!

They are from L to R:-

  • Jenna Hayes,
  • Courtney Pearce,
  • Tammy Forbes, and
  • Carma Stephenson.

They shared the stage with more than 600 cast members consisting of massed pipes and drums, highland dancers, singers, tap dancers, drum majorettes, etc.

Four shows were held at the magnificent indoor Sun Arena at Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria and included guest artists from Australia, USA and Switzerland!

Says dancer Jenna Hayes: "It was a privilege to perform at the biggest show in SA with 40 other Irish Dancers selected from around the country and I will definitely apply again next year! The atmosphere was electric and we've made life-long friendships."

Fellow dancer Tammy Forbes says: "This is the biggest audience we've ever danced for (approximately 30 000 people) and even though we rehearsed for up to 5 hours every day, it was SO worth it! I also like the fact that a portion of the proceeds go to charity."

SA Tattoo 2018 was part of the Centenary celebrations of the legacy of President Nelson Mandela and the dancers were honoured to be a part of it.
