Malicious arsonist targets SPCA Uitenhage

In a case of malicious arson, storage containers belonging to animal welfare organisation, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), in Uitenhage, outside of Port Elizabeth, were set alight on Thursday night.

“Last night someone set alight our precious storage containers which housed our cat and dog food and our jumble sale items,” SPCA Uitenhage in a statement.

“Thank goodness NONE of our animals were harmed, even though the containers blazed right next to the cattery! We lost all of our jumble, which is a major source of our income.”

Images of the fire show extensive damage to at least two storage containers.

SPCA are now appealing to the public for pet food and items for their jumble sale.

“We are humbly requesting donations of dog good, cat food, puppy food, kitten food, blankets, financial donations and good quality, clean, second hand items for our jumble sale please,” the organisation said.

“If you would like to help in any way, please contact Koos Croucamp on 083 516 9652. If you would like to make a financial donation, please do so here.
