Man arrested in Port Elizabeth while driving car belonging to missing woman

32-year-old Jacobus Oosthuizen, from Paarl, in the Western Cape, briefly appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates' Court on Monday. He was remanded in custody to Wednesday.

This is after he was arrested by Port Elizabeth police over the weekend driving a vehicle belonging to a missing Western Cape woman.

"Members of the Port Elizabeth Flying Squad received information on a missing person, Nicola Pienaar, from Paarl," police said.

"Members spotted the vehicle that she was last seen in at KFC in Albany Road, in PE, which was reported stolen.

"One suspect was arrested and alleged that he was her boyfriend.

"The victim's clothing was still in the vehicle."

During his court appearance, Oosthuizen claimed he last saw Pienaar in Oudtshoorn, where he left her on the 7th of January, following an arguement.

Pienaar has been missing since the 10th of January and police have requested anyone, who might have information on her whereabouts, to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Meanwhile, arrangements are being made so that the case can be transferred to the Western Cape.
