Manhunt launched after gang robs Kirkwood business
Kirkwood - The South African Police Service in Kirkwood have launched a manhunt for a group of suspects, who robbed a business in Voortrekker Street, Kirkwood, at about 12:55 on Wednesday.
"It is alleged that the three males entered the business and pretented to be clients," said police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni.
"Two of suspects threatened the personnel and demanded to entered a restricted area and demanded money from the safe.
"The suspects then took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones."
He added that the suspects also took a cellphone and wallet of one of the clients that was inside the premises.
"The suspects fled from the scene in a white Audi and a silver Mercedes Benz," Capt Tonjeni added.
"Police were immediately notified of the business robbery and the Audi was found abandoned about 8km outside Kirkwood on the R336 in the direction of Addo.
"The vehicle was set alight.
"Detectives are currently following up on all possible leads to affect an arrest."
