Manhunt launched after Kwanobuhle woman robbed in her home

Uitenhage - Kwanobuhle police and detectives from the Operational Command Centre in Uitenhage have launched a search for suspects involved in a house robbery that occurred at about 00:45 on Friday morning.

According to police spokesprson, Captain Gerda Swart, the house robbery happened along Dlala Street, Kwanobuhle.

"It is alleged that two suspects (one had a firearm) entered the residence of the 52-year-old female and demanded cash," she described.

"The suspects took cash, a Plasma TV, laptops and cellphones and fled the scene in a Nissan np200 bakkie.

"No one was injured during the robbery and the victim notified the police."

Capt Swart said that Uitenhage police recovered the bakkie soon afterwards, that was allegedly used during the commission of the house robbery.

"It was found abandoned next to the road in the Rooihoogte area, Uitenhage, at about 01:30," she added.

"The suspects already fled and the vehicle was handed in to be processed by our Forensic experts. Detectives are investigating a case of house robbery.

Capt Swart said that the South African Police Service is encouraging the community to assist with the fight against crime by phoning Crime Stop 08600 10111 or Crime Line SMS 32211 with their tips.
