Matric results 2018: Woodridge College achieves a 100% pass rate

Woodridge College on Thursday said that it is very pleased to announce a 100% pass rate for the 2018 matric examinations.

"Despite the upheaval of the 2017 fire and subsequent rebuild, the Matrics, together with their teachers, did us proud," described Lynne Niemann, Marketing & Communications Officer at the school.

Woodridge College is a private, co-educational school situated near the small town of Thornhill, halfway between Jeffrey's Bay and Port Elizabeth.

She said that the 2018 Matrics were able to write the final examinations in the beautiful, rebuilt school hall with all construction on campus completed.

"Of the 64 pupils, 60 (94%) who wrote the examinations achieved a Degree Pass (BD). This statistic and the results in general were in line with expectations and our internal examinations, and an improvement on last year’s results," she added.

Woodridge College's top achiever for 2018

"Our top performer for 2018 was Shimeon Botes," Niemann said.

"In addition to completing UNISA Grade 8 music and Trinity ATCL examinations, he achieved eight distinctions, with 96% for Mathematics being his stand-out achievement."

She said that 10 other pupils also achieved a Mathematics distinction, with the overall number of distinctions across all subjects totaling 93.

"Julia Hayward achieved 6 distinctions, while Jessica Cormick, Alison Soutar and Christopher Yerolemou all obtained 5 distinctions. Christopher achieved 95% for both Mathematics and Accounting."

Dr Catherine Logie, Woodridge Director of Academics said, “We are very proud of what the 2018 matric class has achieved and wish them all of the best as they head off to university.

"The Headmaster, Derek Bradley, also wishes to express his gratitude to staff for preparing the pupils for the examinations and congratulates the Woodridge Grade 12 class of 2018 on their outstanding achievements.”
