McWilliams Academy of Dance students enter final of Dans in Jou Taal

DANS IN JOU TAAL is a televised national dance competition, open to all studios throughout South Africa and covering all genres of dance.

The Port Elizabeth episode was filmed yesterday at Sunridge Primary School, adjudicated by Andre Calitz and Sharonne van der Vyver.

The Irish Dancers from MCWILLIAMS ACADEMY OF DANCE blew the judges and the audience away with their performance of “Warrior”!

They were crowned episode winners in the 16-18 years Open Category and have been selected to take part in the final, which will take place in Pretoria from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September.

Says M.A.D owner and teacher Jennifer McWilliams: “This is the first time that we’ve taken part in ‘Dans in jou taal’ and I am absolutely delighted that we have been selected for the final! This competition is a wonderful platform to showcase the talent in South Africa and we are thrilled to be representing Port Elizabeth!”

Their eye-catching steampunk masks were made by Corinne Calder, the creative PE mom, who has been involved with making all types of props for the Alexander Road High School for years!

The MAD dancers look forward to sharing their love of Irish Dancing with the other studios going through to the final and wish them all the very best!

"Dans in jou taal 2018" is broadcast on KykNET NOU channel 146.
