Metro says passing of 'influential' Regional Taxi Council Chairperson a great loss

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Tuesday conveyed its condolences to the family and friends of the late Matomana Lennox Mbewana, who was the Chairperson of the Regional Taxi Council in the Nelson Mandela Bay region.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Roads and Transport, Cllr Rano Kayser said Mbewana was an extra ordinary man and was influential in advancing the establishment of safe, reliable, cost effective public transport system, which will benefit all residents and stakeholders of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and overall improvement in the transport industry.

"It is with great sadness that we receive this tragic news and the sudden passing of Mr Mbewana will leave a great void. We will surely miss his valuable contribution and constructive criticism in our meetings.

"There are many in the NMB community, who mourn deeply his passing as his was a life of love, compassion and excellence. We will keep the Mbewana family in our prayers and trust that in their pain they will find healing. May his soul rest in peace,” said Cllr Kayser.

The Funeral service of Mr Mbewana will take place on Saturday, 7 January 2017, at Feather Market Hall, in Port Elizabeth, at 9:00.
