More fugitives re-arrested after daring escape at Ntabankulu Magistrate's Court

Ntabankulu - Eastern Cape police said that two more prisoners, who escaped from the Ntabankulu Magistrate's Court have been re-arrested.

"One was arrested at about 10:00 and the other at 17:00 on Tuesday," said police spokesperson, Captain Raphael Motloung.

"The escapees had been arrested for stock theft, residence burglary, and common assault."

He said that six prisoners, aged between 21 and 24 years old, made a daring escape while in court on Monday, at about 15:30.

"Five prisoners have so far been re-arrested by the task team that is working tirelessly to bring all escapees back into police Cells. Only one escapee is still at large at this stage," Capt Motloung described.

"The police again request the public members not to try to arrest the outstanding escapee, but to inform the police as he is dangerous."

Four of those arrested escapees were brought back at the Ntabankulu Magistrate's Court on fresh charges of escaping from lawful custody.
