More than 80 suspects, aged between 24 and 60 years, were arrested in various anti-crime and tracing operations that were conducted over the weekend in King Williams Town.

"Police embarked in a weekend operation tracing the suspects of cases that are already opened and registered and they managed to arrest these suspects," said police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.

"Other suspects were arrested while police were doing crime prevention in their policing precinct and in Dimbaza they arrested a 24-year-old for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

"These suspects were charged for crimes ranging from Drunken driving, Common Robbery, Housebreaking with the intent to steal, shoplifting, warrant of arrest, Malicious damage to property, Common Assault and Murder."

These suspects will appear in different Magistrate Courts around King Williams Town Cluster soon.

The Cluster Commander of King Williams Town Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga thanked the members for the job well done in tracing the suspects.

He also warned members of the community not to buy stolen items as this also equals to aiding and being part of the crime committed.

He also encouraged the community members to report the criminals and/or criminal activities to the police on Crime Stop 08600 10111, Crime Line 32211 or the nearest police station.
