MOVIE REVIEW: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – The hilarity continues

Being the second Marvel movie to come out in 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, like all the recent Marvel movies, did not disappoint.

The film takes place a while after the first movie, with the Guardians, Star-Lord aka Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradly Cooper), and best of all Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), on a mission to destroy a monster attacking the power source a planet full of powerful aliens known as the Sovereign.

Thinking they had completed their mission successfully, the Guardians leave the planet with their reward, only to suddenly be attacked by the Sovereigns armada. It is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, and the Sovereign are attacking out of revenge! In their bid to escape Peter soon finds himself facing a dilemma he has always avoided; his parentage.

We see old enemies becoming new allies and fans of the comic book will be overjoyed seeing some of their favourite characters finally making an appearance and coming to the aid of the Guardians as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Bringing in another Awesome Mix tape, this movie was filled with great music and hilarious scenes with our favourite characters. Baby Groot steals almost every scene, sometimes literally, and Drax the Destroyer keeps the audience entertained with his inability to understand socially acceptable concepts. Plus the wait to see where Stan Lee will cameo is always fun for Marvel fans.

But don’t let the comedy fool you, the film has its serious moments, with family values put to the test, and the Guardians very relationship and rocky terrain.

If you enjoyed the first Guardians film you will love this one. And fair warning to all those wanting to watch; as we all know Marvel has been showing post credit scenes that show spoilers for other Marvel films, but don’t leave the cinema after just one post credit scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie, because there are three more than usual!
