Moving your business: International Trucks strengthens its offering by introducing Dongfeng trucks

Around 788 million tonnes of freight were moved across South Africa last year. Of this, about 565 million tonnes were moved by road – proving that despite attempts to divert freight to rail, haulage trucks remain a viable option for industry, which is where Port Elizabeth-based International Trucks comes in.

This family-owned company, which was established in 2009, is the official Nelson Mandela Bay dealer for their namesakes - International Trucks, as well as for DAF Trucks and international engine supplier, Cummins.

Recently, International Trucks made further inroads into becoming the one-stop shop for haulage services when they were appointed by Gauteng-based Dongfeng Motors Africa as their sole agents for Chinese-made Dongfeng Trucks.

Founded in 1969, Dongfeng is the biggest supplier of heavy-duty commercial vehicles in China, and has built successful relations with many well-known automakers such as Nissan, Renault, Cummins and Volvo.

Comprising of three models, the Dongfeng range of trucks kicks-off with the five-tonne Kingrun DFL 140. Measuring 4 450 mm with an overall length of 7 840 mm, the 140 is powered by a 3.9-litre four-cylinder Cummins engine that produces 103 kW and 430 N.m of torque, and can be specified with a range of body types including dropside, tipper, box van or with cattle rails or just about anything that you require to transport your goods.

One step above, the Kingrun DFL 180 carries a payload of eight tonnes and can also be equipped with the same range of body styles. Measuring 9 100 mm in length, power is provided by a 5.9-litre straight six Cummins engine that makes 132 kW and 640 N.m of torque.

Topping-off the range, the multi-award winning Kinland 420 6x4 Tractor uses a Renault developed 11.1-litre dCi straight six engine developing 303 kW and 1 870 N.m of torque driving through a ZF-sourced 16-speed gearbox. It also features a 13-tonne rear axle made by US specialist, Dana, and an interior equipped with the latest tech such as air ABS, air-conditioning, central locking and electric windows.

There is now a Dongfeng truck to suit your business – whatever your needs. Find a truck that's right for you; visit International Trucks at Buick Street in Markman Industria, Port Elizabeth or call 041 461 1211.
