Mr PE UberMANn competition running strong for 17 years!

Since its inception in 2002, the Mr PE UberMANn has led a highly successful search for the right man to be an ambassador for Port Elizabeth.

The man who becomes Mr PE is not only to be the most dashing of all, but more importantly a young man to whom the city’s youth can look up to.

This year the Mr PE competition is celebrating 17 years of moulding successful young gentlemen across Port Elizabeth and their contribution to various charities over the years.

The aim of the title is to embrace responsibility and encourage a positive impact through community activities; it is not a modelling competition.

The title carries the full weight and responsibility of the qualifying criteria set out in the entry form, as well as the expectations of all the sponsors involved. Past Mr PE’s have undoubtedly been much needed role models to the youth of the region.

This year also marks the 2nd year since the rebranding of Mr PE to the Sun Boardwalk Mr PE Ubermann, which has only served to increase the competition’s popularity and success.

The chosen contestants start a six week journey of self-discovery, self-development, skills development, physical training and many more activities to boost their self- confidence.

The contestants are groomed in decorum, public speaking, how to handle group pressure, leadership abilities, impeccable manners and dress sense.

And in its first year, the first ever Junior Mr PE Ubermann will be chosen as well. This competition is aimed towards the younger students in High School or just starting university between the ages of 16 and 19.

The responsibilities for the Junior winner will be to connect with primary and high schools in the area, as well as be a voice and provide support for local charities.

Speaking at a sponsor meet and greet event, Mr PE creator and owner of Heinz in Style, Heinz Schmidt stated;

“We are very privileged to be in 2018, our 17th Mr PE. It is our 2nd Mr PE Ubermann, it is our first Junior Ubermann, and I must tell you we are privileged to have 56 sponsors for this year’s competition.”
