MTC acquires Ocean Divers International

Port Elizabeth’s oldest dive school, Ocean Divers International (ODI) was acquired by Marine Training and Consulting (MTC) in July 2016.

The Managing Director of MTC, Peter Dyzel, says “I am very pleased to add the services that ODI offered to the existing MTC portfolio. In good faith, MTC will honour any outstanding dive courses and dive packages that people acquired from ODI.”

MTC not only has the highest level of accreditation for a variety of marine training services but they also offer the widest variety of professional and recreational training and leisure activities.

Peter adds, “With the acquisition of ODI, MTC has become a one-stop-shop for all marine training courses. MTC is now a PADI 5 Star accredited dive centre as well as a SAMSA and DAN accredited training facility. Apart from the training we continue to offer the recreational diving charters.”

Being a 5 Star PADI Dive Centre, MTC offers courses from Discover Scuba to Instructor Rating and they have a swim school, with a heated pool, catering for babies to adults. The SAMSA courses range from Inland Water skipper to Coastal 40 mile offshore commercial qualifications, as well as short range radio training. Through DAN, MTC offers Department of Labour approved First Aid courses and DAN instructor courses.

“MTC are now agents for DiveTek, Saeko Dive and Aqualung diving equipment, and we also service all brands of cylinders and dive equipment and have a refill facility for cylinders.

“All students that do a dive course automatically receive dive insurance cover from DAN for the duration of the course,” says Peter.

MTC now have a young but highly experienced and dynamic team to run the training and recreational diving services.

For people from out of town wanting to complete any of the courses, MTC have a backpackers style lodge on site that can accommodate up to 14 people at a very reasonable rate.

Peter concludes, “Please pop in to our training centre at 10 Albert Road, Walmer and chat to us to find out how we can open the doors to a fun and enjoyable recreational diving experience or, if you are looking for a career in the marine environment, we can offer excellent advice. ”
