Vehicle reportedly stolen in Durban found in Mthatha

Mthatha - The South African Police Service's stabilisation operations in the Eastern Cape province continue to bring more suspects to book.

"This is after the police arrested two suspects, aged 26, in Mthatha, on the R61 near Corhana on Thursday, at about 19:40," described police spokesperson, Col Sibongile Soci.

"The team was patrolling and conducting visibility operations along the R61 when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Etios with two occupants.

"The vehicle was stopped and searched."

Col Soci said that upon circulation, the vehicle came out positive for a Durban case opened in October 2018.

Arrest of suspects for possession of suspect stolen vehicle welcomed

"The pair will appear before THE Ngqeleni Magistrate'S Court soon on charges of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle."

Acting Eastern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembeka Dyanyti, commended the police for their commitment that led to the successes.

She said these operations will continue to ensure the stabilisation of trio crimes including cash in transit and proliferation of illegal firearms.
