Mthatha woman and teenage girl were watching TV when gunmen entered and opened fire

Mthatha - Police in Mthatha have appealed to the public for information that can help them solve a homicide case that happened over Easter weekend.

"Mthatha police requests an information that may lead to the arrest of a killer/s that shot and killed a 56-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl at Moyeni loc in Libode on Sunday, at about 18h00," said police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena.

"It is alleged that the both the deceased were watching TV when the assailant/s entered the house shooting and killing them instantly.

"Both the deceased sustained upper body injuries."

Mthatha police yet to establish motive behind shooting

She said that the motive for their attack is not yet known and no arrests have been made as yet.

"We request anyone with information to contact D/Captain Zwakala on 08292110003 or may call Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111 confidentiality is guaranteed."

The Acting Mthatha SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Mandlakhe Twala, condemned and described the act as barbaric and cowardice.

"It is only a coward that hurts or kills women and children. The SAPS is committed in the fight against such crimes and we will leave no stone unturned in order for us to bring the perpetrator/s to book," he said.
