Mystery surrounds missing girlfriend after man found murdered at Coega

Police in Port Elizabeth are appealing to the public for assistance with information that can assist them in their investigations and tracing a 55-year-old woman, who has gone missing after a brutal murder that took place at Coega.

According to police spokesman, Captain Andre Beetge, police on Wednesday found the body of 52-year-old man at Coega farm.

“Mr Zwelinzima Jantjies was found murdered at Coega Farm, opposite the Coega Hotel, along R334 Daniel Pienaar Street, at Coega.

“Medical examination revealed that he was killed by blunt force blows to his head.”

Captain Beetge said that his girlfriend, 55-year-old Thobeka Miriam Gema, who was living with him for the past few years, could not be found since then.

“It is unclear if she might have been a victim in the murder as well. She was originally a resident of Motherwell before moving in with Mr Jantjies,” he added.

Captain Beetge further urged anyone that could assist the police with information on the murder or the whereabouts of Gema, to please contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Sikhumbuzo Lawula at 083 875 5088 or Swartkops Police Station.
