New electronic deeds registration system looming

New electronic deeds registration system looming

Although there is currently an electronic deeds registration system in place, the preparation and lodgement of deeds with the Registrar of Deeds and the checking of these documents by the Registrar of Deeds takes place manually.

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform is now proposing a “fully electronic deeds registration process”.

This new system proposes to decentralise the registration process to effect delivery at the point of need and to consolidate the diverse procedures that are currently in place at the different deeds registries.

Hopefully the new system will enhance the accuracy of deeds registration processes and speed up the turnaround times.

Comment on the Bill must be submitted by 15 April 2017. The Bill can be accessed on the following link: www.gov.za/documents/electronic-deeds-registration-systems-bill-15-mar-2017-0000
