Ngqamakhwe appeal for leads after 64-year-old woman shot and killed at her home

Ngqamakhwe police appealed to the public to assist them with information that can help them solve the murder of a 64-year-old woman on Thursday night.

"It is alleged that the 64-year-old woman was shot and murdered on Thursday, at about 19h00, at Ntenza Locality, Vananda Village, Ngqamakhwe," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The victim had just gone outside her house on the evening in question leaving her grandchildren inside the house.

"The grandchildren heard gun shots and when they went outside, they found their grandmother already passed away."

He said that the suspect/s were not seen as they are believed to have ran away.

"The motive for the murder is not known and Ngqamakhwe police are appealing to anyone with information about the murder to contact them @ 047 487007 or Crime Stop 08600 10111."

The deceased was identified as Nomatamnsanqa Matanga.

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, condemned the senseless of murder of an old woman, who could not defend herself.
