Ngqamakhwe man arrested after stabbing and killing son during argument

A 58-year-old man is expected in court on Monday after he was arrested by Ngqamakhwe police over the weekend for alleged murder of his son aged 24.

"It is alleged that both men had a misunderstanding that is not yet clear to the police on Saturday, at about 09:00," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"Both the suspect and the deceased were at their home at Gquma Locality, Ngculu Village, Ngqamakhwe.

"The suspect left the son and went to a nearby homestead."

It is further alleged that the son went to where his father was and started shouting at him.

"The suspect drew his knife and fatally stabbed his son. The deceased was stabbed on his upper body and passed away immediately at the scene. The suspect was arrested and has been charged with murder," said Captain Manatha.

"The suspect is due to appear before the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate's Court on Monday on a murder charge. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld as some of his relatives are still being officially informed of his murder."
