Ngqamakhwe man arrested for raping mentally challenged teen

A 25-year-old man is expected in court on Monday after he was arrested by Ngqamakhwe police for allegedly raping a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl over the weekend.

"The alleged rape took place on Friday, at about 21:00, at Tshetshengwane Location, Zolo Village, Ngqamakhwe," said police spokesperson, Capt Jackson Manatha.

"It is alleged that the suspect was caught red handed raping the victim, who is mentally challenged. He was caught by the mother of the victim."

Captain Manatha said that the suspect managed to escape and run away from the scene.

"He was traced and arrested by Ngqamakhwe Police on Sunday," he described.

"He is due to appear before the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate's Court soon on a rape charge."
