Ngqamakhwe police investigating after school kids killed in accident

Ngqamakhwe police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after two school children died following an accident on Wednesday.

"It is alleged that two school children, aged eight and nine years old, were crossing along R409 road on Wednesday, at about 15:15, as they were from school," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"Both young girls were unfortunately hit by a car.

"The accident took place near Xume Village, Ngqamakhwe. Sadly the leaners passed away at the scene."

He said that the cause of the accident is not yet known, but Ngqamakhwe police detectives are investigating.

"The identities of both deceased are still being withheld until all their relatives are officially informed of their death."
