NMB Communicators' Forum

On Wednesday 23 April 2015 the Nelson Mandela Municipality Communications Office hosted the NMB Communicators' Forum with various communications practitioners from respective government departments and parastatals.

The forum was aimed at how, through the communications function, service delivery may be improved in line with the Back to Basics Strategy pronounced upon by President Jacob Zuma and COGTA Minister Pravin Gordhan.

Communications challenges in the public sector were also discussed, and integrated planning and programming.

Among the challenges highlighted were lack of financial and human resources, misinformation, duplicated events and activities, as well as various service delivery challenges.

COGTA's Micheal Msebi presented the “Working together to implement the Back to Basics programme so serve our people better” framework, which emphasises and focuses all local government practitioners to beter the lives of communities through efficient and effective service delivery.

The Executive Mayor's Rapid Response Team's coordinator, Mr Zonile Ndoni, also appraised delegates of the work that the RTT was doing and how, through the RTT, immediate service delivery interventions were being made on a daily basis.

The NMB Communicators' Forum meets on a quarterly basis and is coordinated by DoC and COGTA and the NMBM Communications Office.
