NSRI urges public to take precaution at beaches

With the summer heat rising, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is urging the public to swim at beaches only where and when lifeguards are on duty.

According to NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, the public should only swim within the safe demarcated swimming zones posted by lifeguards using their red and yellow flags.

"We are now in the peak of the full moon Spring Tide," he warned.

"Strong currents and strong rip currents can be expected around the coast.

"Bathers are urged to be cautious."

Lambinon also appealed to anglers fishing from shore to be cautious.
