Off-road ready Mitsubishi Pajero Legend returns

Just under two years after receiving a mid-life revision, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has given its stalwart Pajero range a further boost with the re-introduction of the off-biased Legend limited edition.

First introduced four years ago to celebrate the Pajero’s 30th anniversary, the new Legend II can once again be had in either short-or-long-wheel base body styles, with up to R50 000 in extras compared to the standard range-topping Pajero Exceed.

This consist of a heavy-duty protection plate under the engine and gearbox, 18-inch Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tyres (the SWB gets a set of 17’s), Pajero branded stainless nudge bar, heavy-duty Bosal tow bar, Tough Dog heavy-duty shock absorbers, Front Runner roof rack with high-impact discharge spotlights, a built-in Garmin nuviCam loaded with Track4Africa and hard wearing rubber mats.

Additional options include an air-compressor, snatch recovery kit, Caska navigation unit and entertainment system, headlight protectors, bonnet guard and a cooler fridge.

Up front, the Legend II continues unchanged from the standard Pajero with motivation coming from a 3.2-litre DI-D turbodiesel engine that makes 140 kW and 441 N.m of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard with drive going to the rear wheels or all four via Mitsubishi’s famed SuperSelect four-wheel drive system.

A three year / 100 000 km warranty and five year / 100 000 km maintenance plan is included in the SWB’s R659 900 and LWB’s R759 900 asking prices.
