Over 270 Christmas babies delivered in the Eastern Cape alone

Eastern Cape Health MEC, Ms Helen Sauls-August, has congratulated all health professionals involved in the successful delivery of Christmas babies across public health facilities in the province on Tuesday.

“We commend the effort put by health personnel to make sure that delivery of babies is successful at public health facilities. We also congratulate parents on the birth of the new babies,” said MEC Helen Sauls-August.

A total of 275 new born babies were conceived at public health facilities on Christmas Day.

More female Christmas babies born

The Eastern Cape Department of Health said that of this number, 155 female babies and 113 male babies were born; 35 babies were born through Caesarean Section, 240 born through Normal Vertex delivery.

"There were two set of twins from Frontier Hospital in Komani." 

 The breakdown per district is as follows:

35 males + 50 females=85

Sarah Baartman

8 males + 14 females= 22
