Party ends in tragedy after Centane man stabbed over a money-related argument

What was meant to be a joyful party that was organised by young men at a village in Centane ended in tragedy after a 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed.

"It is alleged that a group of young men collected some money on Thursday 24 January, at Teko Springs Village, Centane," described police spokesperson, Capt Jackson Manatha.

"The group of about 10 young men enjoyed themselves at a certain homestead at Teko Springs Village, Centane, on the same day.

"However, a misunderstanding between two young men, aged 21 and 22, ensued."

He said that the misunderstanding resulted to the fatal stabbing of the 22-year-old man by the 21-year-old suspect.

Centane was stabbed in the upper body

"The deceased was stabbed on his upper body at about 22h00 on the night in question and he died at the spot."

Capt Manatha said that the suspect was arrested on the same night by the Centane Police.

"The deceased was identified as Sikelela Mzuzu."

He said that the 21 year old suspect will appear before the Centane Magistrate's Court on Monday on a murder charge.
