PE hosts best motocross riders in first round of MX Nationals

On Saturday 27th February, the best motocross riders in South Africa will compete in the first round of the 2016 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SAMXN Championship, sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa (MSA), held at Rover MX Club, along Victoria Drive, Schoenmakerskop, Port Elizabeth

We will once again welcome riders from all over South Africa and neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe and Botswana, to name a few.

Rover’s iconic sand track is always a highlight on the race calendar for the competitors and spectators alike as it always guarantees to offer some nail biting and unpredictable racing.

All of the top riders are expected to be in the mix, but there could be some exciting surprises in store for us.

The local favourites to look out for are Grant Hutton (46), Storm van den Heever (34) and Keegan Hickson-Mahony (14).  Grant Hutton and Storm van den Heever will be competing against each other in the Pro Mini Class.  Keegan will be competing in the 125cc High School class against an ex-Rover contender Seth van den Abeele (338).

Local 50cc favourite, Kyle Townsend will also be out to make a name for himself in his first MSA National.

Other favourite riders include veterans Craig Kruger (3) and Stuart Laing (110) who will be fighting it out in the MX3 class; Andrew Wren (16) who has entered both MX1 and MX2 classes; and other local support riders.

The day starts about 8am, with racing kicking off about 10am and there will be a lunchtime autograph session with some of the top national senior riders.

There will be plenty to do on the day from watching the racing from our VIP deck to enjoying the on-site catering or a “cold one” in the beer tent while your kiddies are being entertained on the jumping castle and giant slide. Entrance is R50 per adult and free for children 12 years old and younger.

We look forward to seeing you there!
