Peddie learner dies after being stabbed by another learner at school

The Eastern Cape Department of Education on Thursday said that a 14-year-old Grade 7 learner at Mpeko Primary school, in Peddie, Amathole West, died after being stabbed by another learner.

"It is alleged that the learner was stabbed to death today by another 17-year-old Grade 7 boy from the same school," described Eastern Cape Department of Education spokesperson, Mali Mtima.

"The department has sent officials to the bereaved family to report the matter.

"The department has activated counselling for all learners and educators of the school."

MEC sends condolences to family of Mpeko Primary learner

He said that Eastern Cape MEC for Education, Mlungisi Mvoko, sent his condolences to the bereaved family and the entire education fratenity.

"My condolences to the bereaved family and hope they will find solace in the Lord during this trying time," said Mvoko.
