Police appeal for leads after 55-year-old woman raped at knife-point

The Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) are investigating the rape of a 55-year-old woman.

"It is alleged that the victim was sleeping alone at her home at Goodhope Locality, Ngxakaxa Village, Dutywa, on Thursday, at about 20:00," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.  

"A man forced opened the door and he was carrying a knife. He threatened the victim and overpowered her."

Captain Manatha said that the suspect then raped the victim.

"He ran away after the rape. The suspect has not yet been arrested," he added.
