Police in Port Elizabeth have appealed to the public for help with information that might assist them in arresting three suspects, who robbed a local church.

The Good News Community Church in Stofile Street, New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, was robbed by three armed men on Friday at around midday.

"While one suspect remained on guard outside, two armed suspects entered the church office side where about 15 congregation members were busy preparing food for a church function," described police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

"The suspects demanded their cellphones and cash money. A total of six phones, personal money and belongings were taken by the suspects. No church money was taken and no shots were fired.

"The three males then fled the scene on foot."
