Police appeal for leads after man wounded during Despatch business robbery

Despatch - Detectives from the Operational Command Centre in Uitenhage and detectives from SAPS Despatch are following up on all possible leads, after a 32-year-old male was wounded during a business robbery on Monday night.

According to police informtion, the incidnet happened at about 18:30 at a business along Chief Albert Luthuli Street, in Khayamnandi, Despatch.
           
"It is alleged that the complainant and his assistant was standing outside their shop when they were approached by three men," described police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"The complainant sensed that something was not right and as he was about to run away, one of the three men pulled out a firearm and shot the complainant in the upperbody.

"The suspects then forced the assistant back inside the shop and the suspects took cash and groceries."

She added that the suspects then ran away from the scene on foot.

"The 32-year-old male was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment."

Capt Swart said that Despatch police are investigating a case of business robbery and attempted murder.

"No arrests were made as yet and the South African Police Service request," she said.
