Police appeal for leads after morning robbery at Peddie supermarket

Detectives at Peddie are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of suspects, who robbed a supermarket chain store in Peddie early on Monday morning and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"It is alleged that whilst the cashier was busy at the cash office, she was confronted by two males, who were in possession of pistols," said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

"She was instructed her to open the safe which she did.

"They then took all the cash and put them into plastic bags and fled. No one was physically harmed during the incident."

Capt Govender said that a white Renault sedan was spotted driving at a high speed by witnesses with three occupants shortly after the incident.

"Any person with information can contact the crime stop number on 08600 10111. All information received is treated with extreme confidentiality."
