Police investigating a culpable homicide case following collision in Butterworth

Msobomvu - Msobomvu police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal head-on collision that claimed one person and injured eight others.

"It is alleged that there was an accident that occurred along N2 road near Zazulwana Junction, Butterworth," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The accident took place on Thursday, at about 12h30.

"Three vehicles, namely two bakkies and a sedan car, were involved."

Capt Manatha said that the injured were nine people - a woman, a child and others were all men.

"Sadly a man, in his late 30s, later passed away at the scene," he described.

"The cause of the accident is not known but under investigation by Msobomvu Police detectives.  

"The identity of the deceased will be released once his family is officially informed of his death."
