Police investigating the drowning of a missing 10-year-old Addo boy

It is alleged that the 10-year-old Addo boy went for a swim after school on Monday and never returned home.

Police in Addo are investigating an inquest docket following the death of a 10-year-old boy on Tuesday.

"The boy allegedly drowning in a canal in Addo," said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"Community members discovered school clothing and a school bag next to the canal on Tuesday and reported it to the SAPS.

"Investigation was done and the body of the 10-year-old was found inside the canal about 2km from where the uniform was found."

Search launched for missing Addo boy

Capt Swart said that it is alleged that the child went for a swim after school on Monday and never returned home.

"The parents came to the SAPS on Tuesday to report him missing and a search was launched," she added.

"SAPS divers recovered the body of Amahle Majika at 10:00 on Tuesday."
