Police need help after man picked up in Bethelsdorp with wounds dies at hospital

Port Elizabeth - Police in Bethelsdorp, Port Elizabeth, are urgently trying to trace the family of an unidentified man, who passed away at a local hospital on 9 September 2019.

According to police information, the 40-year-old black male was taken to Livingstone Hospital on 3 September 2019 with head injuries.

"Ambulance services picked him up at about 01:30, near the Booysens Park Community Hall," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"He passed away on 9 September 2019.

"A post mortem report is being awaited."

Col Naidu said that police have opened an inquest docket pending the results of the post mortem.

"Anyone who can assist police in identifying the man or may know of the circumstances that led to his death is asked to contact D/W/O Wynand Hills at SAPS Bethelsdorp on 041 4043068 or 082 633 1293."
