Police seek assistance after unidentified two-year-old dies at Livingstone Hospital
Port Elizabeth - Gelvandale detectives are urgently trying to trace the parents of a two-year-old boy, who died at Livingstone Hospital, in Port Elizabeth, shortly after being brought in by a man on Tuesday afternoon.
"According to personnel at the hospital, an unknown male brought the child in at about 15:40 informing them that he had fallen off the bed and needed treatment," said police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.
"While doctors were treating him, he died.
"When they approached the unknown male to inform him of the death, he ran away."
Capt Janse Van Rensburg said that no information of the child or the coloured male is known.
"Police have opened an inquest docket pending the results of the post mortem report," she said.
"Police are appealing to anyone who may know the parents or the child to urgently contact D/W/O Neil Hendriks at SAPS Gelvandale on 0824421816 or Crime Stop 0800 10111 or their nearest police station."
