Police seek public's assistance in solving murder cases in KwaNobuhle and Humansdorp

Police have appealed to the public for assistance in locating the family or relatives of a homeless man, whose body was found lying in Caravan Park, Park Street, in Humansdorp, on Sunday.

"At around 09:00am, police were alerted by a passer-by about the body of a man possibly lying dead in Caravan Park, Park Street, in Humansdorp," said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

"At the scene, police found a half-naked man with several stab wounds in the chest.

"Ambulance personnel certified him dead at the scene."

He said that the deceased man was known to be regularly sleeping in the Caravan Park and is believed to be originally from Korsten, Port Elizabeth.

"Anyone with information that could assist police with their is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Frederick Pronpetter at 081 827 4474 or the nearest police station. Police are investigating a murder case," Sgt Nkohli added.

He said that in a separate incident, on Sunday, at around 11:10pm, Uitenhage police were summoned to a scene of a man possibly lying dead in Siwasa Street, KwaNobuhle.

"At the scene, police found a body of a man with a bullet wound at the back," Sgt Nkohli described.

"The deceased was identified as Phumzile Skepe (36) of KwaNobuhle.

"Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect (s) behind the death of Skepe to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Gcinikhaya Ntliziywana at 082 319 9223 or share information via Crime Stop 08600 10111."
