Police swiftly arrest suspects after 24-year-old shopkeeper gunned down in robbery

Willowvale police swiftly responded to a weekend armed business robbery that left a 24-year-old female shopkeeper dead and arrested two men, aged 20 and 23.

"They were also found with an unlicensed firearm -  a pistol with one live round of ammunition," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"They will be charged with business robbery, murder, possession of unlicensed fire arm and ammunition."

Captain Manatha said that police hope to arrest the third suspect soon.

"The two suspects will appear before the Willowvale Magistrate's Court soon."

It is alleged that three men entered a shop at Kulozulu Location, Nqadu Village, in Willowvale on Saturday, at about 18:20, described Captain Manatha.

"One of the suspects, who was armed with a fire arm shot and killed a female shop assistant, aged 24," he said.

"The suspects robbed the shop of undisclosed amount of money.

"They then fled on foot."

Captain Manatha said that the deceased, who cannot be identified until all family members are informed of her murder, died at the scene.
